Ashcroft is made from rattan that’s cut into thin strips, then tightly woven to create its flat surface and finished with a pale, silvery wash. This process gives it a more refined look than the rustic texture of our Maya mat collection, but the natural materials and hand making will mean there are subtle differences in size, shape, colour and weave from piece to piece – a detail we love for the character it brings to the table.
A styling tip or two
Ashcroft works with all of our tabletop pieces, from fine bone china Fenton to homely stoneware Sutton, so it’s a really versatile collection. Of course, these mats are perfect for resting serving dishes on top of, but why not keep one out on your table always to sit underneath a vase full of flowers, or use one on a sideboard to gather bottles and glasses and create an impromptu drinks serving area?
