There are times when you want crockery with a more traditional look, but that’s not too formal. That’s why we made the Olney collection, which feels refined and down-to-earth at the same time. These side plates come in two colours, the delicate Flax Blue and the earthier Walnut, both of which bring a sense of occasion to teatime.

The material

Stoneware, because it’s hardwearing, so you can put it in the dishwasher, and even the microwave, and not worry about it chipping easily. As fine as they are, these are pieces to live with day after day, not tiptoe around.

In the making

No two pieces in the Olney collection will be the same. That’s because we apply the pale blue thistle motif by hand using carved wooden blocks. Pattern changes, varying shades, mottled colour, they’re what make Olney feel more charming and relaxed than a uniform, transferred design would.

A sense of history

There’s a whole lot of tradition behind Olney’s finish. From British spongeware – hand-stamped everyday pottery with its roots in the 18th century – to Chinese and Indian block printing. Just like both of these artisan processes, Olney’s got the same feeling of craft.

    • Orders over £150 (or €250 in Ireland) qualify for free delivery
    • For orders under £150 (or €250 in Ireland), a delivery fee of £6.95 applies (£30 in Ireland)
    • If your order is in stock and eligible for parcel delivery to mainland UK, one of our approved couriers will deliver it within 5 days
    • For larger products, we offer our White Glove Service delivery within 21 days (mainland UK and Northern Ireland only)
    • For items with an estimated delivery timeframe, we’ll either dispatch them upon arrival or contact you to arrange delivery
    • If you’re ordering outside mainland UK or Northern Ireland, we ship through our international delivery partners. Please refer to our full terms and conditions for more details

    • You can return most items within 28 days of delivery, but you may be charged for a courier or collection service
    • If you cancel your order within 24 hours, you will be fully refunded

    Olney’s hand printed thistle motif is inspired by traditional 19th century ceramics. The delicate pattern, which comes in Walnut or Flax Blue, gives our crockery and lamp bases a nature-inspired elegance.
