The material
This sunlounger’s made with a woven resin fibre we call ‘all-weather wicker’ – it’s got very much the same look as natural rattan, but it’s happy being left outside and will make your life much easier (as well as having a longer lifespan).
The cushions
All our garden furniture cushions are made from natural-coloured, weather-resistant fabric, so you needn’t bring them inside if there’s a quick summer shower. They’re not completely weatherproof, though, so don’t leave them out all year long or in pouring rain. They’re filled with foam, which is soft but keeps its shape well, and the covers are removable, so they’re easy to clean.
How it feels
Compton’s a streamlined shape that’s very comfortable to stretch out on. The cushions are firm enough that you won’t feel the frame underneath, and at two metres, it’s long enough for just about every height.
Design details
There’s a manual mechanism for adjusting the angle of Compton’s back, because it’s easy to use. There are also two cushions rather than one long one, so they won’t bend out of shape when the lounger’s upright. And at the bottom of each leg, a section’s left bare to protect the weave from moisture, dirt and scuffs.
Where we see it
Although Compton’s ideal for sunbathing out in the open air, it’s also lovely in a garden room if you want something more suited to lying full length than a sofa.
