The material: kubu
Littleton is made from kubu – a type of natural rattan that’s both strong and smooth. It has a grey-brown colour that fits easily into any interior. Because it’s a natural material, the colour will vary from piece to piece though, because Mother Nature is about character over clones.
The material: zinc
Each Littleton basket has a removable zinc metal liner. It’s lightweight so doesn’t add to the weight of the soil and plants. It won’t rust over time either. And, because water drains from the soil and collects in the base of the liner to help keep surfaces dry.
The making process
It’s not always possible to make things by hand, but when it comes to basket-weaving, that’s really the only way to do it. It means that, even though our baskets are fairly uniform in shape and size, they do vary slightly, giving them much more character than if a machine made them.
